We have an exciting year ahead of us and outcomes will be based on the Ministry's latest curriculum (see https://curriculum.gov.bc.ca/curriculum) which focuses more on the "big ideas" and deeper understanding. Here is a general outline for our core subjects:

- The Daily 5 (a structure that helps students develop daily habits of reading, writing and working with peers that will lead to a lifetime of independent literacy)
- CAFÉ (for reading strategies)
- 6 + 1 Writing Traits (for quality writing and assessment)
- Reading Powers (for more meaningful reading)
- Words Their Way spelling program
- Various projects will incorporate writing assessment (science, socials)
Mathematics
- Using M.A.T.H Stations (Math basic facts, At your desk independent work, Teacher table, Hands on games and projects), students will focus on problem solving and making connections to the real world
Science
- The Big Ideas for this year are that living things are diverse and interact in their ecosystems, matter is made of particles, thermal energy and landforms!
Social Studies
- The Big Ideas for this year is to learn about indigenous peoples culture and cultures from around the world and how we are similar!
